David Hobbs thrills the fans of yesteryear with his fast take through Turn Five at Road America.

There were three cars in the Atley/Budweiser team's arsenal. Camaro Number 28 was driven to five victories by Willy T. Ribbs. Camaro Number 29 was driven to four wins and the Trans-Am Championshp by David Hobbs. Camaro Number 30 was driven to a win by John Paul Jr in his only race.

And then there were two. Willy T. Ribbs had a bad day at Road Atlanta after the 1983 Trans-Am season had been concluded.

Car Number 28 was not restored.

DeAtley Team History

History is remembered through faded photographs and yellowed newsprint, and racing history is no different.

The Trans-Am has long been known as a true battleground for automobiles, their drivers, and their manufacturers.

It was affordable and so it was fiercely competitive, allowing the speediest to gain national notoriety, and thus they went all out.

The year was 1983, and while it's not ancient, it's not exactly current either. Cars were simpler, but the conditions could be brutal and created unpredictable results.
